our warrior in mutable air— may 11th – june 24th

Well, this past Monday evening Mars left Taurus for Gemini.

He has spent the last two and a half months in the “newest” sector of the zodiac—the raw birthing of baby Aries, the girl-sitting-upset-in-a-chair-illustration-by-jessie-willcox-smithhoarding of toys and friends in toddler Taurus and now the precocious kindergartener of Gemini.

Yes, endless questions and triumphant answers.

Sass, insatiable inquisitivity and an undying inability to sit still.

Your average 5 year old.

Mars Gemini!

Under the desires of Mutable Air, we’ll live for the debate and excel at the technical for a little over a month—or at least whichever house Mars is traveling will get a boost of this energy.

Gemini Mars won’t have the singularity of purpose such as we’ve seen with the God of War’s sojourn in Taurus. Nope, our activities may seem scattered to the winds and a strong undercurrent of ADHD will overtake many. This will frustrate some and simply influence most in the workings of our coming days.

But our sarcastic streaks will blaze with fury. Quick with the one-liners, too smart for our own damn good!

Yes, yes, we’ll be buzzing to and fro and with Mercury set to go retro on the 18th, it should be easy to align our thoughts with our actions for many weeks to come!

Not a bad affair really.

week ahead—going out to meet the tide—may 11th – 14th

Herbert-James-Draper-Flying-Fish-1910Alright, the God of the Sea will rule this week—attacking our days from a myriad of angles.

Deluded or sublime.

Fantastical or confused.

Stagnating or evasive.

Hell, prolly a combination of all the above.

So, today, with Mars at the anaretic 29th degree, our Taurus Sun sextiles Pisces Chiron. Though we have plenty of confidence, our get up and go is scattered and chaotic.

Later tonight, the God of War passes over into Gemini and we’ll find a new sense of vitality and enthusiasm.

Tomorrow, has the Moon solidly (ha!) in Pisces. Luna conjuncts Neptune and squares Gemini Mercury—deep emotions simply won’t jive with the outer rational world. We’ll feel foggy headed and desperately wish to retreat, delaying any heavy thinking.

But, by Wednesday, the Moon has saddled along side Chiron—tapping into his sextile with the Sun. An immense conviction of purpose will be available—we’ll readily learn from mistakes and forge ahead down a clear path.

Thursday, the lovely Moon will have moved to Aries. She proceeds to trine Sagittarius Saturn, square Cancer Venus, conjunct the South Node—on her way to meeting up with Jupiter and Uranus.

Shit, we will feel antsy, depressed, slighted and oh, so hot tempered about it all. Keep your head down to avoid the inherent pitfalls.

OR assimilate past triumphs and blunders, continuing along the course of conviction from the day before—Saturn will certainly help in this regard!!

Always TWO options, guys!!

Well, it’s a week to get lost and then find ourselves again—with both, the propensity for reward.

Yeah.

honing your craft—mars in taurus—march 31 – may 11

Mars has left the sign he rules, Aries.

Burne-Jones-Third-Day-of-CreationMany have been running amok—going here and there—just moving to move, shedding old Winter skins for a lighter, shinier outfit.

Battle ready but desperate for purpose. All this energy and these ideas—ughhhh, no place to go!

Unfocused Mars Aries.

Well, the Warrior has now moved into Taurus.

Taurus is the Bull—the Fixed Earth sign—things now will become far more practical and “focus” for focus’ sake will be a sight bit easier to embody.

With his ingress to the second sign, the Warrior joins Venus in her own sign, her own realm. He mutates himself to her function and form. He champions the ideals she holds supreme—this means our modus operandi will become thankfully a lot more easy going, too.

The wildfire of Aries becomes the hearth fire of Taurus.

the masculine and feminine on fire—mars & venus into aries

who is the artist?????

who is the artist? —–> Zdzislaw Beksinski

Friday the 20th, Mars and Venus ingressed and conjuncted at 0º of Aries.

Thus a new cycle begins among astrology’s most interesting pair, the God of War and Goddess of Love.

Their passage from Pisces to Aries not only threatens the arrival of Spring in a number of short weeks but is very special due to degree and sign involved.

Alright, to start, I will discuss the sign of Aries and what it means to have planets here, then I’ll get on to the peremptory conjunction.

mars into pisces—jan 12th

Today, Mars ingresses to the dreamy, discarnate waters of Pisces.

Warwick-Goble-Vintage-Illustration-002This is a marked shift from the detached intellect of Aquarius, so let me break it on down.

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. The ending of the whole shebang. The omega.

Here is the doorway to the other side. Here we leave behind this realm to begin a new journey in another. Here is where the soul of one meets the souls of the many. Here time is obsolete, we are set adrift across the infinite eons.

Neptune, the sign’s ruler,  takes all the solid stone of the material world, all the absolutes of the mind, the passions of the spirit and surrenders them to the evanescence. Nothing remains except compassion and bliss.

Meanwhile, Mars is the planet of War and rules our will to action, our get up and go. He symbolizes what you desire and how you most likely will go about getting it.

With Mars in a Water sign, the emotional side of being is heightened. How we feel becomes paramount in influencing what we do.

Yes, the Warrior takes a break to navelgaze instead of charge headfirst into battle.

Pisces Mars is gentle and unassuming. Mild mannered, introspective and wrapped in imaginative fantasies. Quintessentially mutable—adapting to surrounding impressions like a fluid chameleon.

Physical energy can easily dissipate like drops of rain in a puddle. And for the time Mars occupies the 12th sign, we may all experience difficulty getting tasks done. Things will seem just out of reach, disappearing before our eyes. Slipping through our fingers. The fog swallowing whole afternoons and hours dissolving into the abyss.

This passive action may prove very frustrating for the many of us who want results and tangible progress. Others will find this ethereal dreamscape a balm that soothes the over stressed nerves of recent holiday weeks.

Either way, the God of War will reside in Pisces until the 19th of February.

december 5th—our ‘get up and go’ gets rebellious

On Friday, December 5th, Mars will ingress into the 11th sign of Aquarius just in time for the Full Moon on the next night.

Arthur-Rackham-Illustration-002Moving from a Cardinal to a Fixed sign.

Earth to Air.

The eleventh sign simply takes what the tenth sign began and molds it into sustainable brilliance. Projects initiated under Capricorn’s influence will now find truer stability under the Water-Bearer.

Our get up and go will be characterized by the unconventional rationale of Uranus. The more non-conformist a plan can be, the better.  The more of a humanitarian bent, the better.

Not only is this a Fixed sign—dependable and steadfast—but an Air sign, as well.

Think the mad professor that saves the day at the very last minute. Intellectual mastermind albeit scattered, but that’s merely the genius swirling about, ripe for the plucking.

We want to save the world!! With lightning bolts and science.

So, from now until nearly the middle of January, we get to don our do-gooder caps and work outrageous schemes.

Mars in your Aquarius house will light a quirky fire under your butt and it’s gonna show in that area of life.

Yep, the God of War’s tenure here will be interesting. Not until the 20th will he make a major aspect with any planet, save for the Moon goosing him periodically on her way round the circle.

That’s 2 full weeks unhindered.

Two blessed weeks of independence for a planet in a sign that revels in rebellious individuality!!!

Yeah.

And when he does finally interact it will be with his Water-Bearing ruler, Uranus.

Interesting.

Precisely how Aquarius rolls.

october 25th—major shifts: 3 & 4

Later today, the Sun and Venus will move into Scorpio and on Saturday the 25th, two additional majors shifts occur.  Mars ingresses from Sagittarius to the 10th sign of Capricorn while Mercury begins direct motion in Libra.

Cardinal, baby. Cardinal.

Mars in Capricorn is steady and ambitious.  The freedom loving vibe of Sagittarius is exchanged for the rigors of status, materialism and focus.

When the Warrior dons the mask of the Goat, the aim is self-motivated mastery. There is little desire to blaze one’s own trail, for the impetus is to build on tradition, work one’s way to the top of established structures. To leave an enduring legacy.

The Goat is level-headed, tenacious and self-controlled at best and cold-blooded, obstinate and dour at worst. They are skillful at the long term strategy but can run the risk of over cautious speculation.

Our dear Cappy Soldier is attracted to power which is a potent aphrodisiac and like all Earth signs, his is a sensual, strong libido. Combine this with the current positions of Sun and Venus in carnal Scorpio and the atmosphere steams up all around!!!

While in the 10th sign, the God of War will interact in major aspect with all six of the outer planets. Lots of hobnobbing with the big wigs on his agenda—just as the Goat desires.

On the same day, our dear Mercury, begins direct motion at 16º Libra. He has been retrograding since October 4th and will remain in Libra until the 8th of November. The Winged Messenger will finally move out from the retrograde shadow on the 10th at 2º Scorpio.

Mercury Direct marks the final sweep along the last half of the Relational 7th sign. We should find it easier now to incorporate all the lessons learned while Mercury once again occupies this slice of the zodiac. Thinking as a team; the art of the diplomatic debate; the charming necessity of ‘playing devil’s advocate.’

By the time the God of Thieves gets back to Scorpio, the Sun and Venus will be fully entrenched in the dark Underworld and Mars will be dueling with its Lord from Capricorn. Halloween may be over by then but the macabre ambiance of the heavens will be without a question palpable.

september 13th—the warrior gets his bow and arrows

On Saturday, September 13th, our resident Warrior moves from the fluid depths of Scorpio to the lofty blazing heights of Sagittarius—from Water to Fire.  Both are marked by feelings—one is just the receptive yin variety, the other, assertive yang.

Scorpio Mars is the strategist, while Sagittarius Mars just simply wings it.  We have spent the last month and a half ruminating over actions taken or not, swimming among the ghosts and goblins of our individual Underworlds and getting intimate with Father Time.

Now it is time to come up for air.

Once in Sagittarius, he quickly goes into square aspect with Piscean Neptune and by the end of September he will be personal player in a grand-Fire-trine with Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries that reaches perfection on October 4th.  Hot!  Further along, our soldier revisits Libra energy through sextiles to Fall planets transversing there.

More on all that in the days to come, but first, let’s get to know the Archer a bit better.
