traveling on the breeze—mercury into gemini—april 30th – july 8th

two-dancers-by-degasThursday evening, Mercury moved from Taurus to the third sign of the Gemini.

Mutable Air.  Light on our feet and full of wonder.

This marks a time of year to become insatiably curious and ask a multitude of questions, doggedly. EVERYTHING will need to be commented on, though NOTHING will hold our attentions for long.

Gemini is ruled by Mercury. Quick-witted and bright as the stars in the sky (Castor and Pollux to be precise!). The world will seem fresher than ever. People, places and ideas that were tired and boring last week, will seem interesting and awash in shiny shimmering ‘newness’ now.

We’ll find cause to run errands around town and take short little trips that soak up the Spring beauty. And in lieu of that, we’ll take trips in books and TV shows—anything to stimulate and feed the hunger of our ravenous brains.

And best get good and used to this energy—for Mercury will retrograde on the 18th at 13°, remaining so till June 11th at 4°. Meaning his sojourn through the sign of his rulership will last over 2 months!!

And off we go!!!

and for the weekend—social and on the rise—may 1st – 3rd

Well, super late last night Mercury moved into Gemini.

Herbert-James-Draper-The-Vintage-MornOur minds are a flit and a flutter with strong mental awareness. All the better to accompany the Moon in her current journey through Libra—another extra social, extra intellectual Air sign.

Mars nor the Sun are activated for the weekend, so it will most likely be a lazy couple spent reading and chatting—lounging about with our brains doing the heavy lifting.

And it is within the next few days the tough and menacing Pluto/Uranus square will officially break apart. We can all sigh a sigh of collective relief. Sure, residuals will linger but the worst is OVER!!!!

The good times continue to roll as Luna sextiles Leo Jupiter and trines Gemini Venusbenefics that make for the best of party partners—after zapping the North Node. Our timing is impeccable and we can’t help but keep a jolly smirk across our faces as we skip through the weekend.

Even Mercury opposing Sagittarius Saturn on Sunday won’t hinder us too badly, for the passionate and wise Scorpio Moon will trine Pisces Neptune easing the depressive ruminations Father Time throws our way.

So, our task is to enjoy the stimulating conversations the sky’s bevy of cerebral Air will grant us and revel in the amped energies of the waxing Moon—should be quite a nice start to May.

Happy May Day!!!

the bull and his thoughts—mercury into taurus—april 13th – april 30th

Mercury has been in Taurus, whose sigil is the Bull, since Monday. He will remain here for the rest of April.

Contemplation-c.-1900-Herbert-James-DraperThe switch from Aries to the second sign has our thoughts moving from quick action plans to the steady weighing of value.

Yep, the comparative value, or lack of, just about everything will be high on our mental landscape.

What does it cost? Is it worth the price?

Is it worth my time? What are the consequences?

Will it last? Is it good quality?

What is the return on my investment? Is it a fair deal?

Is it beautiful? Does it please ALL my senses?

Is he of good character? Is our bond strong or weak?

Is the risk too great? Does this build or breakdown stability?

It goes on and on.

The Bull is patient and possessive. And a fabulous judge of worth—only the best inspires his effort. He will wait for that perfect something or someone to come along and when it/they do—he will stop at nothing to have his desire, then cling to it for dear life, till his dying day.

But if the return on investment is not up to muster, our dear Bull will simply sit amongst the daisies, indefinitely content.

Just sitting . . . and thinking . . . and biding his time. Relishing all that his senses draw in to him.

week ahead—grounding balance—april 13th – 16th

Our upcoming week shows extra emphasis on the talents of the Earth element—which is great, cuz we’re gonna need it!Friedrich-Caspar-David-ZZZ-The-Rock-Gates-in-Neurathen

For the week, the waning Moon will spend her time in Aquarius then Pisces.

While here, there is potential to get swept away with “out there” excitable daydreams and/or painful, unrealistic emotional dramas.

Uh oh.

But not likely. Let me explain.

We start the week similar to yesterday—Uranus/Pluto square still in effect, as well as the Mars/Neptune sextile. We are also getting accustomed to Venus now in Gemini.

Peachy.

And Tuesday sees Mercury leave Aries for Venus ruled, Taurus.

Lovely.

agile self-regard—mercury into aries—march 30 – april 14

Orlando-Pursuing-the-Fata-Morgana-by-George-Frederick-WattsSo, yesterday, dear Mercury moved from Mutable Water, Pisces, to Cardinal Fire, Aries.

I (<—-!!) can already notice the change!

Our minds are aligning with the force of the Aries Sun and our communication style will certainly demonstrate it.

Where for the last five or six months we have gotten accustomed to the “we/us/our” pronouns, there will be a significant shift to “I/me/mine” pronouns, AND FAST! It is all about you. We’ll worry about “we” in a week or two.

Me, me, ME!!!

Hermes is starting fresh, yet again, around the wheel—we are learning about ourselves, anew—impatient, self-centered and shiny! Rash and hungry for life.

We want to create and push forward—burst, screaming, from the confines of winter ice into spring warmth.

Get out and do and be and live!!!

We will be prone now to making impulsive decisions—ANY decision is a good decision—ambiguous is a torturous level of purgatory.

We will speak and act before thinking—this may indicate passion but equally as likely, reckless insensitivity.  Many toes will be trodded over, as sentences get shorter. . .

And shorter . . .

Into pointed self-absorption, stabbing blind.

(Seriously, try not to be a dick!)

This all lasts barely two weeks—it has almost burned for a full day as of now—use the Fire while you can.

For now is when all the ideas flash and flare, bright (especially as Mercury moves to conjunct Uranus on the 8th). Grasp them quickly!

Nevermind the worries of tomorrow—plans will be solidified when Mercury ingresses to the second sign. Now is the time to plunder the world for what YOU WANT!!!

Gather your intellectual treasures NOW!

Inventory and apologies later.

Dammit, hurry up!

jumping off the deep end—mecury in pisces—march 12th – 30th

The Planet of Communication and Messages left the eleventh sign yesterday and has headed into Pisces.  In a sense, our minds are catching up to the Sun, who is currently there now, and Venus & Mars, who have recently Warwick-Goble-Vintage-Illustration-007traversed the last sign of the zodiac, themselves.

Pisces Mercury is a softy. And, for about a week, he and the Sun’s presence together in the Mutable Water sign will create a pleasant balance to all the Fire raging in the Heavens.

For the masses, this ingress signals a shift from a rational Aquarian mentality to the imaginative whimsical waves of Pisces.

We will find ourselves to be a little extra imaginative, a sight more intuitive and a tad bit more sensitive to our surroundings. Our thoughts and words will mirror this.

Generally, it will be easier to express emotion but if slighted, we will be drawn to escape inward to a fantastical day-dream that provides the necessary security such a fragile disposition requires.

For the most part, our inner worlds will fill with rainbows and unicorns for the next 3 weeks—some of us will feel right at home among such reverie, while others will scoff, kicking and screaming the entire way.

I don’t know about you, but it may feel extra nice to get a little lost.

Enjoy.

BIG picture, anyone?—mercury into aquarius—jan 4th

So, Mercury is on deck to join Venus in Aquarius Sunday the 4th at around 10PM EST. Just two short hours before the Cancer/Capricorn Full Moon.

Free-Vintage-Animals-Clip-Art-005Nearly back to back ingresses for the powerhouse worker bees extraordinaire!

Just gettin’ amped for when they conjunct on the 12th is all! More about that later.

Alright.

The winged Messenger is going to be in Aquarius for awhile, since on January 21st he will Retrograde at 17º, to begin Direct motion again on February 11th at 1º. More on this later, as well.

Aquarius is Fixed Air, ruled by Uranus.

This signals an inconsistent yet stubborn intellectual disposition geared toward radical mental exploration.

As Hermes flies through the sign of the Water Bearer our minds gravitate to solid facts and lofty humanitarian goals. Social reform and humankind’s greatest potential. Aquarius gladly bends the rules to breaking in search for absolute universal ‘truth’.

All Air signs love the role of Devil’s advocate, and Mercury in the 11th sign is it’s champion. Nothing like a bit of controversial pot stirring to get this astro placement giddy.

Collectively, under this transit, we will be able to see and synthesize BIG picture concepts a bit easier. There may be a tendency to become over-opinionated and cold, but our minds could just as easily bend toward the innovative and genius.

All are Aquarius’ bread and butter.

Yes, during Mercury’s time in the 11th sign, we get a chance to release the need to be liked—that is not high on the priority list.

And instead, think up glorious tenets of eccentric dogma capable of blowing our minds wide open.

Just right to keep us entertained during a cold, long winter season.

december 17th—thoughts toward Cappy praxis

The sign of Capricorn is heating up just in time for the spectacular Winter Solstice/New Moon on the 21st!!

Venus ingressed to the sign of the Goat last Wednesday and this week it is Mercury’s turn.

Florence-Mary-Anderson-Illustration-024Even dear Mars in Aquarius shares an affinity with all planets transiting the 10th sign in the fact that Saturn used to be the 11th sign’s ruler too, way back when.

So, on the 17th, the Winged Messenger will move from Sagittarius to Capricorn.

From Mutable Fire to Cardinal Earth.

With this change, thoughts and communication will get a bit more serious, some of the jolly will be replaced with rational thoughts of holiday budgets and proper decorum.

Ah yes, but the flip side is Mercury will team with Venus to give each of us the perfect tools to create or simply carry on the seasonal traditions that make this time of year so meaningful.

Yes, Capricorn is the sign of tradition and steadfast cultural mores. He gets greatest satisfaction by building upon the past. Remembering our histories and respecting our collective customs make the Goat’s heart flutter.

All the little things we do this time of year simply because someone older did them when we were growing up are the requisite Cappy fodder.

Don’t resist it—the Sagittarius party is coming to an end.  The Saturnine need to hunker down and horde time honored habits and ways of life is at hand.

‘Tis the Season.

nov. 28th – dec. 17th—thinking plump and happy

Our winged Messenger crossed into Sagittarius country late on Thanksgiving night.

Maud-Humphrey-Vintage-Children-002Today, he is squaring Neptune in Pisces, and we all may feel a bit overwhelmed mentally. Or maybe, hopefully, that’s just me.

Again, hopefully this isn’t interfering in any travel plans for returning home. If it is, then I wish you the best of luck with your return. Dear Neptune never provides the most direct route.

Anyway.

For his remainder in Sagittarius—what is it like for Mercury, the Planet of Communication and Thinking to be traveling through the 9th sign?

Well, we will be susceptible to overindulgence.  Jupiter, who rules Sagittarius, is the God of expansion. Whatever we pick up now to play with will most likely get blown out of proportion.

Maybe good, maybe bad. Totally depends.

I’m aiming (get it?) for good!

of daggers and thieves

November 8th sees our resident sprinter Mercury again returning to the sign of Scorpio, joining the Sun, Venus and Saturn. He will remain in the Phoenix’ realm until the 27th.

The shift from Libra to Scorpio is palpable. Our circle shrinks—our intelligence is utilized for the survival of our select few.

Suspicions rise and loyalties are calculated. Deep are the musings, when Mercury inhabits the sign of the Scorpion.

The Winged Messenger comes from under the Retrograde Shadow on Monday, the 10th to immediately trine Neptune in Pisces the next day.
