the lady takes a dip—jan. 27th – feb. 20th

Tomorrow morning, the 27th, the Goddess of Love joins the God of War in the sign of the Fishes.

Warwick-Goble-Vintage-Illustration-067Venus is very comfortable in the watery embrace of Pisces. Here she can fully surrender. Become lost in all that has come before and all that will ever be.

One of the Planet of Love’s roles in astrology is to attract people and experiences to us, according to the zodiac sign she is traveling through.

In Aquarius, she was seeking the original rebellion coupled with the idealistic reformation.

Now, she has moved on to Mutable Water and nears the other side. She is readying herself to drift beyond the Neptunian veil, to dissolve into the mist. To slip untroubled into the nothing.

Oh, alright, but, Lona, what does any of that really mean?

Well, for one thing our hearts get a bit softer and we can become more empathetic to our surroundings. Soaking up the whims and fancies of others who cross our paths. This may be a positive if you are a hard-hearted doer. Or it may prove precarious if you already grapple with over-sensitivity.

Indeed, poetic kindness and fluid grace may render us more vulnerable than usual—again if it is needed, then so be it. Otherwise, the next 3 1/2 weeks may prove troublesome (only to become fundamentally more hazy when the Sun ingresses on February 18th).

Another potential could be that our imaginations become a glittery fog of seraphic musings. Creativity engulfs us in a daydream shawl of mystical romanticism. Beautiful wisps of meaning traced into the fabrics of our collective psyches.

It could be a gentle time or one of needed extra self-protection. Trust yourself to know which side you fall. Trust also that the people and experiences required to fulfill the murky requests of the Fishes will be drawn to you and yours.

During the final days of Winter, Pisces is the tender succor which alleviates much of the season’s icy grip and floats us softly toward Spring.

season of the water bearer—jan 20th

Tuesday, the 20th, sees the Sun ingressing to the 11th sign of Aquarius, followed shortly by the Moon.

lightning-1909The two Luminaries conjunct at 0º roughly around 8AM EST.

We’ll be waking to a new day, a new astrological month and a new lunation cycle.

Alright!

The first New Moon of 2015 continues last year’s pattern of Sun ingresses coinciding with the start of a new Lunar month. The zero degree of a sign is mighty potent and, therefore, adds quite a punch to the energy backing intentions set at this time.

And true to Aquarius’ unconventional nature there will be a SECOND New Moon February 18th at the crisis-laden 29th degree.

Oh Boy!

So, let’s get to know Aquarius a little bit better to best utilize the celestial toys we get to play with this month!

venus opposes jupiter—jan 19th

Monday, the 19th, Aquarius Venus opposes Leo Jupiter Rx at 20º.

4.2.7They formed their first inconjunct during Christmas Week last month and now it is Leo/Aquarius time. The opposition is Aphrodite’s purest meeting with the King of Planets in their I/O/Q cycle.

It is a fabulous precursor to the Leo Full Moon on February 3rd, since it highlights the energies of a Feminine (Venus/Moon) and Masculine (Jupiter/Sun) planet along the Fixed Fire/Air axis.

So, what does that mean for the beginning of our week?

jan 13th – 15th—worker bees a buzzin’

This week sees an abundance of activity among three of the worker bees—Mercury, Venus and Mars (the Sun and Moon take center stage at next week’s lunation, of course).

Lots to talk about.

First, the good news—

Vintage-Plants-and-Flowers-Clipart-006Yesterday, Venus and Mercury came into exact conjunction at 11º Aquarius.

They remain conjunct today while forming a sextile with Aries Uranus. Tomorrow, the 14th, the pair will semi-sextile Capricorn Pluto and Pisces Chiron while trining the Libran North Node.

When the Messenger God and Aphrodite conjoin, the atmosphere is active and pleasant.  Our mind is working well with our social graces and when in Aquarius—humanitarian idealism meets quirky charm.

Add to this dynamic easy aspects from Uranus (who is the ruler of Aquarius), Pluto, Chiron and the Nodal Axis and well, our collective drive to cajole the best out of humanity is accentuated exponentially.

This duo have the moxie to get it done.

And, boy, are you gonna need it since Piscean Mars exactly squares Saturn in Sagittarius on Thursday.

Folks, this is a tricky one. Here an almost saintly amount of patience and perseverance is required. Though, positively, I feel the overall effect is softened since Pisces and Sadge are Mutable, thus making it easier to adapt.

Regardless, expect general frustration at every turn—trudging through molasses. A lot of B.S. may get piled on your plate all at once. Just don’t let it rile you—that’s the test.

As with most things Saturnine, if you know EXACTLY what you want and are willing to follow the rules PRESICELY in getting it, you’ll be fine.

Otherwise, keep your head down and don’t stop working, because after the square exacts the influence fades rather quickly.

So, there you have it, some of the gifts as well as some of the challenges fueling this week’s heavens.

Yep, remember all the Venusian charm and Mercurial quick wit at your disposal and use it!

full moon by midnight—jan 5th

Our first Full Moon of the new year occurs early Monday at almost precisely midnight EST.

4.2.7The preceding Sunday is packed with astrological vitality, making this Moon super-duper—so, let’s get started.

Venus and Mercury have both recently moved into Aquarius. They are now sextiling Saturn, new to Sagittarius. This adds plain good judgement and success to any plans made now—especially artistic or career-wise.

Saturday saw the Sun join Pluto at the 13º of Capricorn. They will remain intertwined for the duration of the Full Moon, while sextiling Pisces Chiron.

The Maverick adds fuel to the already volatile healing capabilities of Sol and the Lord of the Underworld, BUT with the gentleness and compassion only a Piscean planet (or asteroid) can provide.

As she moves into Cancer, Luna, herself, dances with Chiron in a free flowing trine. Water meets water to dissolve old scars and give fresh perspective.

Yes, Sunday night’s event could be a major point of catharsis for us, depending on the intentions set at the New Moon as well as individual house position—look to 12 to 14 degrees of the Cardinal signs.

As you know, the Full Moon occurs along the Capricorn/Cancer axis. Earth and Water. The Father and the Mother of the zodiac.

Themes of nurturing and protection will surface. Quite possibly old ghosts from childhood could arise—don’t forget Pluto is in the frey.

How do we provide for our inner child?

How do we protect those—people, ideas, projects—we have committed to nurture?

How are we building structures that nourish and shelter the children—metaphorical and otherwise—we have birthed and are seeing to maturation?

Do these structures allow for growth in all areas—physical, mental, spiritual, emotional? Or are they outdated, in need of overhaul?

As the natural rulers of the 4th and 10th Houses respectively, Cancer and Capricorn bring along fundamental questions of our place and security in the world. Issues of do or die.

Alright, and now to get to the meatiest part of this opposition.

BIG picture, anyone?—mercury into aquarius—jan 4th

So, Mercury is on deck to join Venus in Aquarius Sunday the 4th at around 10PM EST. Just two short hours before the Cancer/Capricorn Full Moon.

Free-Vintage-Animals-Clip-Art-005Nearly back to back ingresses for the powerhouse worker bees extraordinaire!

Just gettin’ amped for when they conjunct on the 12th is all! More about that later.

Alright.

The winged Messenger is going to be in Aquarius for awhile, since on January 21st he will Retrograde at 17º, to begin Direct motion again on February 11th at 1º. More on this later, as well.

Aquarius is Fixed Air, ruled by Uranus.

This signals an inconsistent yet stubborn intellectual disposition geared toward radical mental exploration.

As Hermes flies through the sign of the Water Bearer our minds gravitate to solid facts and lofty humanitarian goals. Social reform and humankind’s greatest potential. Aquarius gladly bends the rules to breaking in search for absolute universal ‘truth’.

All Air signs love the role of Devil’s advocate, and Mercury in the 11th sign is it’s champion. Nothing like a bit of controversial pot stirring to get this astro placement giddy.

Collectively, under this transit, we will be able to see and synthesize BIG picture concepts a bit easier. There may be a tendency to become over-opinionated and cold, but our minds could just as easily bend toward the innovative and genius.

All are Aquarius’ bread and butter.

Yes, during Mercury’s time in the 11th sign, we get a chance to release the need to be liked—that is not high on the priority list.

And instead, think up glorious tenets of eccentric dogma capable of blowing our minds wide open.

Just right to keep us entertained during a cold, long winter season.

Lona

you zig, then i’ll zag—venus into aquarius—jan 3rd

The Goddess of Love and Beauty leaves Capricorn this Saturday, January 3rd, for the Fixed Air sign, Aquarius and will remain there until the 27th.

January and February are the coldest months of the year—not just weather wise but also astrologically.

Let me explain:  Capricorn and his succeeding sign, Aquarius are not the best with the feels. The Goat prefers practical results on the material plane—this is how he shows love and caring. Likewise with the Water Bearer, the feels are all in the mind. Discussing and brainstorming radical concepts are how they demonstrate friendship and acceptance.

So, from the time all the worker bees make their exodus from Sagittarius between Thanksgiving and Christmas until they all congregate in Pisces come the end of February—the feels are gonna be frozen solid.

Chilly, aloof, detached.

Aquarius.

BUT—
