you zig, then i’ll zag—venus into aquarius—jan 3rd

The Goddess of Love and Beauty leaves Capricorn this Saturday, January 3rd, for the Fixed Air sign, Aquarius and will remain there until the 27th.

January and February are the coldest months of the year—not just weather wise but also astrologically.

Let me explain:  Capricorn and his succeeding sign, Aquarius are not the best with the feels. The Goat prefers practical results on the material plane—this is how he shows love and caring. Likewise with the Water Bearer, the feels are all in the mind. Discussing and brainstorming radical concepts are how they demonstrate friendship and acceptance.

So, from the time all the worker bees make their exodus from Sagittarius between Thanksgiving and Christmas until they all congregate in Pisces come the end of February—the feels are gonna be frozen solid.

Chilly, aloof, detached.

Aquarius.

mercury/jupiter I/O/Q cycle begins—dec. 30th

The I/O/Q triad is a working theory of mine—a pattern I noticed when first paying closer attention to transits.

And now it is time for Leo Jupiter to get his wondrous energies funneled to the Capricorn/Aquarius/Pisces side of the Various-Vintage-Illustrations-019zodiac.

Capricorn Venus began her cycle with the King of Planets last week that was muddled by a Finger of God aspect with the Pisces Moon.

But Cappy Mercury begins his dance with Leo Jupiter on a more unadulterated footing, Tuesday the 30th, when the two meet up in a quincunx at the 21º.

Jupiter is recently retrograde, which means the resultant thought expansion of the above coupling will take an introspective trajectory. This is not necessarily uncomfortable for Capricorn is naturally a sign suited for reflection and analysis.

The ending of the year can be one of quiet contemplation.  We can ground ourselves if we choose—remember, inconjuncts are about choosing to act with the given energies, spending the last days of 2014 looking contently behind to better plan ahead.

Leo can give Capricorn the magnanimity to let go of the past, freeing us to exercise the Goat’s Cardinal talent for building our best lives possible into 2015—time-tested and steadfast.

Or one could simply sit, serene, with the satisfying myriad of noble ideas coming into view under this celestial frequency.

To help us in our journey, this will be a gracious and forgiving atmosphere to work out all those resolutions we have lurking ’round the bend.

2014 christmas week review

Well, I sincerely hope everyone had a magnificent Holiday.

Vintage-Old-Book-Illustration-016The weather here in the panhandle coupled with the festivities prevented me from posting, so now I’m just gonna give a brief recap of the energies of last week.

Needless to say, the big story is Saturn’s ingress from Scorpio to Sagittarius on the 23rd.

Huge!!!

I will post separately about that later today.

But Saturn was, of course, not the only happenings in the Heavens.

december 20th—solstice eve 2014: part 2

So, Mars moved into Aquarius on the 5th. But our dear Warrior has not contacted another planet (except the ever moving Moon) in major aspect since sextiling Saturn from Capricorn on December 1st.

Vintage-Old-Book-Illustration-037Twenty days!! That’s a long time, people.

Well, all of that is about to change and in a radical kinda way!!

This is Part 2 of my series on the build up to this year’s Winter Solstice, that is also the Capricorn New Moon, going down this Sunday, the 21st.

You can catch up with Part 1 right here, where I discussed Mercury, Neptune and Saturn’s status for the weekend.

Ok, so the God of War has been a lone wolf for almost 3 weeks, save an occasional visit from Luna.

On the  20th, all that changes.

december 17th—thoughts toward Cappy praxis

The sign of Capricorn is heating up just in time for the spectacular Winter Solstice/New Moon on the 21st!!

Venus ingressed to the sign of the Goat last Wednesday and this week it is Mercury’s turn.

Florence-Mary-Anderson-Illustration-024Even dear Mars in Aquarius shares an affinity with all planets transiting the 10th sign in the fact that Saturn used to be the 11th sign’s ruler too, way back when.

So, on the 17th, the Winged Messenger will move from Sagittarius to Capricorn.

From Mutable Fire to Cardinal Earth.

With this change, thoughts and communication will get a bit more serious, some of the jolly will be replaced with rational thoughts of holiday budgets and proper decorum.

Ah yes, but the flip side is Mercury will team with Venus to give each of us the perfect tools to create or simply carry on the seasonal traditions that make this time of year so meaningful.

Yes, Capricorn is the sign of tradition and steadfast cultural mores. He gets greatest satisfaction by building upon the past. Remembering our histories and respecting our collective customs make the Goat’s heart flutter.

All the little things we do this time of year simply because someone older did them when we were growing up are the requisite Cappy fodder.

Don’t resist it—the Sagittarius party is coming to an end.  The Saturnine need to hunker down and horde time honored habits and ways of life is at hand.

‘Tis the Season.

december 14th—uranus square pluto—thorn in your side

Well, in the Heavens, as many of you probably already know, a battle is raging between Pluto and Uranus.

Voyager_Uranus_732X520Since 2012, there have been 5 exact squares and today, December 14th, the 6th will occur, with the final going down next Spring.

Pluto has recently gone direct and is interacting with Uranus Rx this time at 12º 35′ Capricorn and Aries, respectively.

When all is said and done, from the 6th degree to the 15th of Cardinal Fire and Earth, a metamorphosis of monumental proportion will have transpired.

For the last few years, nationally and globally, stargazers have been speculating beforehand, then reporting on afterwards, the mundane, explosive, effects of this dynamic.

There has also been quite an analysis of the the past conjunction between these two leviathans back in 1965/1966. And here is an excellent article comparing the waxing/waning cycles of Pluto/Capricorn throughout the last centuries and into this one.

As for the current square, I personally like this take. And here is another. And yet, another.

Yes, yes, much has been said about it all.

But you know what, I feel an important nuance has been overlooked and I would like to highlight it, now.

december 14th—wishing on a star

Warwick-Goble-Vintage-Illustration-046Sunday, the 14th, newly ingressed Venus Capricorn sextiles the God of the Sea in Pisces.

Neptune in easy aspect with his lower vibration, the Planet of Love, means smooth sailing on the waters of this holiday season—at least for the weekend.

Yep, when these two meet it portends wishes really can come true.

Wait a minute, you may think—stodgey Capricorn is wayyyyyy too uptight for loosey goosey Pisces Neptune.

Disaster ahead!!

No, not really. Quite the opposite.

Pisces fantasizes and Capricorn, the builder, champions those dreams into reality.

Water and Earth are wonderful for one another in just about all cases and this is no exception. Venus and Neptune are far more than happy to play their parts!

Where there seems to be little hope, the next few will be rife with unexpected turn-arounds in many a desperate situation.

Everyday miracles abound.

december 10th—our composed lady on the hoof

Well, well, well, tomorrow, December 10th, at almost precisely Noon EST, Venus will be ingressing from Sagittarius to Capricorn.

Cardinal Earth.

How does the Planet of Love fare in this environment? And more importantly, how will WE fare with her here?

Honestly, I think she is perfect for this time of year.

She will help soothe the fiery bluntness of Sagittarius Sun and Mercury and lend a stabilizing force to the off-the-wall schemes of Aquarius Mars.

Venus is our planet of socializing and attraction. She (along with Luna) is our resident master of the feminine mysteries.

Her moving through the 10th sign of the Goat signals a desire to be in control. And, being ruled by Saturn, she intrinsically knows how to plan, organize and execute all the multitude of festivities happening right now.

Venus Capricorn is all business, but with the grace of femininity needed to soften the edges and create a jubilant ambiance.

Her recent journeys through Virgo and Libra give clue to how she will feel to us during her Capricorn stay.  The Goat has Virgo’s Earthy practicality, as well as Libra’s Cardinal nose for initiative.

It is the best of both worlds combined to help us juggle the wrapping presents and long commutes and endless decorating.  The disastrous changes of schedule and maddening family relations.

Aphrodite will remain in the 10th sign until January 3rd, so even New Year’s will be under her precise care.

She is a gift from the Heavens.  One that will potentially alleviate some of our holiday stress.
