week ahead—critical control—june 1st – 4th

Sunset-by-Caspar-David-FriedrichHoly crap, it’s June!!!

And for the first week, it’s actually a busy couple of days.

Today, the Moon finishes her monthly in Scorpio, moving to Sadge joining Saturn at 0°. The intensity of this placement is exacerbated by Luna and Father Time being at critical degrees—but trying to keep it all under tight rein, like Scorpio and Saturn are want to do. Tense!

Tuesday sees the Gemini/Sagittarius Lunation, where Mars plays an important role. (I will go into more detail in a subsequent post.) Then by suppertime, we contend with a wide Grand Fire Trine among the Moon, Jupiter and Uranus, that will no doubt help with the FM hangover.

Wednesday, Luna goes VOC just after sunrise and remains so till after sunset.  Sandbag the work day, if you can, unless, of course, you need to use the Void to your advantage!

Thursday, the Capricorn Moon works her way through aspects to the Nodes and Neptune to reach Pluto, late. The vibe is reminiscent of how we began the week under a Scorpio Moon conjunct Saturn—emotional discipline and control.

Also, similar is the day’s critical degree/out of sign square between Cancer Venus and Sagittarius Saturn Rx at 29° and 0°, respectively.

Don’t let this get you down. Remember your worth and know you have what it takes!

the vanguard sets out—super new moon/vernal equinox/total solar eclipse—march 20th

warwickgobleWell, to say the Heavens have a lot going on tomorrow is an understatement.

Beautifully rare to have a super moon eclipse on the day of an equinox!

It all amounts to a potent time to set intentions—this time not just for a month but for the season and whole damn year!

Here’s a chronological list of all that happens:

  • ∼4AM – 8AM EST: a Total Solar Eclipse occurs that can been seen over parts of Europe, Africa, etc.
  • ∼5:30AM EST: the SuperMoon New Moon occurs at 29º Pisces
  • ∼2:00PM EST: the Aries Moon trines Sagittarius SaturnRx at 4º
  • ∼6:45PM EST: the Spring Equinox occurs as the Sun ingresses into Aries

During the length of the day, Taurus Venus approaches her inconjunct with SaturnRx and Pisces Mercury, his with Leo JupiterRx. Both of which perfect on Saturday.

And of course, the Uranus/Pluto square is still holding strong at 15º.

Alright. Let me parse the pieces of this special day—

the masculine and feminine on fire—mars & venus into aries

who is the artist?????

who is the artist? —–> Zdzislaw Beksinski

Friday the 20th, Mars and Venus ingressed and conjuncted at 0º of Aries.

Thus a new cycle begins among astrology’s most interesting pair, the God of War and Goddess of Love.

Their passage from Pisces to Aries not only threatens the arrival of Spring in a number of short weeks but is very special due to degree and sign involved.

Alright, to start, I will discuss the sign of Aries and what it means to have planets here, then I’ll get on to the peremptory conjunction.

reversing on a dime—feb 18th

december 20th—solstice eve 2014: part 1

This is the first of a three part series of posts detailing the busy Saturday preceding the Winter Solstice/New Moon on Sunday, the 21st.

1800s-Vintage-Illustrations-029Alright, the skies are brimming to the gills with Mutable and Cardinal escapades this weekend.

The only hold-out to speak of is dear old Saturn battling the chaos of Scorpio’s 29th degree. He moved to the anaretic position on December 14th and will remain there until the 23rd, when he finally crosses the border into Sagittarius.

His current locality points to a crisis of Scorpionic proportion. It’s crunch time for how we all relate to sex, death and taxes—you can toss in intimacy, too, for shits and giggles. Ha!

Metaphorically, we are tying up any loose ends related to the issues listed above. Whatever Saturn deems yet to be finalized, the seeds of culmination will be planted at this New Moon, for he will retrograde back into the 8th sign come June 2015 to complete.

Saturn leaves nothing unsound.

Yay!

While Father Time has his hands full with all that, our freshly ingressed Capricorn Mercury is sextiling Neptune in Pisces. We all will have an extra boost of intuitive dexterity at our disposal.

Ah, yes, the Trickster palling up with the God of Illusion makes for quite the environment for mischief. Clever little rascals, to bring a bit of gaiety with the bite of Capricorn’s devilish humor.

This folks, is just some of the energy to influence the weekend’s Solstice.

Exciting.

fast and dirty—only a matter of degrees

hs-2003-09-a-small_webSince the next New Moon falls on 0º of Sagittarius, I am posting a fast and dirty about degrees of special consideration in astrology—of which, zero most certainly is!

Alright, let me break down some of the more common examples—

Aries Points:

  • the first degree of any Cardinal sign—Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn
  • they mark the seasonal changes—Equinox or Solstice
  • depending on which planet or point falls here, there is great impetus towards a fresh beginning

Avatar Points:

  • the 15º of the Fixed signs—Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
  • they are the half-way point between the seasonal changes
  • characterizes points or planets with a sense of stability and stubbornness

Classical Critical Degrees:

  • 0, 13, 26 degrees of the Cardinal signs
  • 8-9 & 21-22 degrees of Fixed signs
  • 4 and 17 degrees of the mutable signs
  • these are traditionally very sensitive points and any body located here will be emphasized

Beginnings and Endings:

  • the oº and 29º of any sign are seen as important
  • these are the cusps—the areas where two fundamental archetypes seem to meld into one another
  • the 29º is known as the Anaretic degree
  • when a body or point is at the 29º, it is commonly felt a crisis concerning the pertinent themes is occurring, therefore the planet is debilitated somewhat
  • planets or points at the 0 degree are seen as more stable than the 29th and may be areas of power, as such the Aries Points

Fixed Stars:

  • during ancient times, these were bright objects in the sky that did not move like the planets did—named ‘fixed’ by the Ancients
  • not traditional degrees, but I thought I would mention them anyway—more thorough post to come later
  • there are many Fixed Stars, each with their own myth and importance, some well-known ones are Regulus and Sirius

A few additional notes:

  • with the exception of the Fixed Stars, there are no orbs to these degrees—a planet is either located there or it isn’t
  • Fixed Stars have very tight orbs—1-2 degrees only
  • such special degrees are used extensively with progressions and predictive work and added to interpretations of the natal horoscope to add nuance and depth

More info—here and here.

Well, there you go, folks. Short and sweet.

The upcoming New Moon is at 0º Sagittarius and on deck to be a  flexibly wonderful new start.
