week ahead—grounding balance—april 13th – 16th

Our upcoming week shows extra emphasis on the talents of the Earth element—which is great, cuz we’re gonna need it!Friedrich-Caspar-David-ZZZ-The-Rock-Gates-in-Neurathen

For the week, the waning Moon will spend her time in Aquarius then Pisces.

While here, there is potential to get swept away with “out there” excitable daydreams and/or painful, unrealistic emotional dramas.

Uh oh.

But not likely. Let me explain.

We start the week similar to yesterday—Uranus/Pluto square still in effect, as well as the Mars/Neptune sextile. We are also getting accustomed to Venus now in Gemini.

Peachy.

And Tuesday sees Mercury leave Aries for Venus ruled, Taurus.

Lovely.

holy fire balls—march 1st

Alright, four main astrological things go on today.Mikalojus_Konstantinas_Ciurlionis_-_FRIENDSHIP_-_1906_-_7

  • Aries Venus conjuncts the South Node
  • Aquarius Mercury opposes Leo Jupiter Rx
  • Mercury sextiles Aries Uranus
  • Jupiter Rx trines Uranus

Tons of Fire with Mercury fanning the flames from an Air sign.

Shall we?

Combining these events, three clear celestial theatres of the day emerge.

#1  Venus will go to work on your past—namely letting go of dead weight. Finally putting to rest any relationships and/or financial habits that are more roadblock than sure shot will be high on the agenda.

It will be fast, Aries style, along the lines of “What the hell have I been doin’ all these years?!?!?!?”

#2  Mercury will go to work on your future. He and Jupiter finally get to exact their opposition at 14º. They were denied this act back when Mercury went retrograde literally hours before culmination and now it will be realized.

Here the logic of Aquarius waltzes with the faith of Leo. Back and forth, back and forth. Add to this dynamic the out-of-this-world operations of Uranus and it makes for a heady couple days of uncanny mental insight.

#3  As for Jupiter trining Uranus, we are implored to contemplate how religion, education and politics can be used to make the world a better place . . . or not?

Their trine lasts longer than the short-lived trysts of Venus and Mercury, sticking around through Thursday’s Full Moon, on into the second week of March. I will have plenty more to say about this duo in later posts.

Lastly, please keep in mind, there is a myriad of planets in Fire in the Heavens. Things happen quick and sometimes it will burn.

Choose to see it as a cauterization rather than a inferno and the times to come will be warm and inviting.

carouse the night away—sun opposite jupiter—feb 6th

Lovely-Vintage-Illustration-Clip-Art-052As the Moon rushes through Virgo, today, the Aquarius Sun will oppose Jupiter Rx at 17º.

Jupiter is getting a fair sight of play this week due all his inconjuncts and oppositions coming from the 11th sign. ‘Tis the Season of the Water Bearer, after all.

And this is a good, good thing.

Jupiter is the Santa Claus/Jolly Buddha of the zodiac. He gives and gives and laughs and laughs. Such a fundamental spirit of kindness and glee with this one.

When the Sun opposes him, we err on the side of excessive . . . whatever!

This is similar to the energy we experienced at the beginning of the week with the Full Moon. The pull of the Leo/Aquarius axis—the eternal battle of the Fire/Air dynamics—me/us!!!

Only this weekend, there is little to do with healing our wounded souls, personal or collective, and just quite simply wonderfully decadent social glut. Just in time for the weekend!!

Yep, this is a feel good one—we’ll be going to extremes. BIG as we can get.

Fair warning—don’t get in over your head—

Unless that’s exactly what your world is needing!

october 10th—let the Crab do it

contemplation-039So, I am considering the transiting Sun and Venus to be conjunct, since she is within combust range at 4°.

That being said, if you have personal planets at 10°-15° of the Cardinal signs (especially Cancer) then I wanted to give a heads up to Libra Venus’ T-square with Capricorn Pluto and Aries Uranus.

This is initiating energy and it demands action.  Otherwise the tension may be downright unbearable.

As I said above, where Cancer resides in your chart is the ‘out’ of the situation, with the themes and requirements of the specific house needing attention.

Venus/Pluto/Uranus is throwing a microscope on our relationships, what and who we attract and our fundamental ways of relating in general. Unpredictable occurrences may be popping up and past issues, long dead, may be zombie walking back into our periphery.

Cancer is the answer. Given the specific archetype of the planet or point, the Crab’s house is most likely in need of some TLC—work it there and watch the other areas fall into step.

october 7th-12th—giving the fire some backbone

Arthur-Rackham-Illustration-042The Kite between the grand-Fire-trine, Sun/Venus/North Node and Uranus/South Node crystallizes on Tuesday, the 7th.  The Sun’s end of the opposition along the Nodal Axis is sextiling Mars in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Leo.  The Moon is in Aries and well on her way to move into position for the Eclipse on Wednesday—of which I will post seperately.

Kites allow us to access the treasure trove of contained energy in a grand-trine.  This particular event is bringing the immense power of a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse into the frey.

The universe is giving us notice it is time to move forward.

So, in this post, I’m gonna break down the new ingredients that make up the Kite formation.

fast and dirty—I/O/Q triad—a working theory

This whole inconjunct/opposition/quincunx (I/O/Q, for short) triad is a working theory of mine. And I reference it a lot, so I figured I better ‘splain myself a bit.

Here’s some back story:  huh?planetary hand-me-downsexam metaphor, venus example

Ok.  So, why is it so compelling for me?

Well, I love the way the cosmos funnels energy across the charts. You will get the raw materials, one way or another, always. Of course, it is up to you to make it precisely what you need. That’s what I feel is going on here.

The I/O/Q cycle honors the wisdom of the number 3. It focuses on a chronological segment of the zodiac (eg. Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) and pumps energy that way from a big kahuna outer planet. It puts our personal, worker bee, planets in the service of the generational outer planets. Cosmic lessons of great magnitude will be available to this area.

fast and dirty—t-squares, boomerangs & kites, oh my!

In anticipation for the upcoming grand-Fire-trine/Kite formation this October, I want to post a fast and dirty about astrology’s ‘outs’.

ornamentHuh?

Well, what I mean is, sometimes the planets line up in a manner that gets a little bit tricky, little bit stressful, little bit scary, yeah?

But the cosmos always provides a way OUT.  This is a post about these indispensable tools.

All three demonstrate the functional beauty of the opposition!

Remember, the ‘out’ is triggered by either a natal planet/point, a transiting planet or another person’s planet/point through synastry.

Shall we?

september 17th-21st—what ya lovin’ and who’s lovin’ you?

Oh my, Venus will be participant in three configurations involving big boy outer planets for the remainder of the week.  It is a line up of challenges and potential breakthroughs.  This is the week to attract a voracious healing to the house Venus is transiting in your natal.

So, it all starts with Chiron.  If you’ve ever doubted your attractiveness or desirability as a partner (and who hasn’t???), Wednesday the 17th, will be a gold mine for you.  Virgo Venus is opposing Pisces Chiron and this speaks to healing issues of self-esteem.

Virgo is practical, therefore this is a real chance to make heuristic alterations to how we view our worth.  It won’t feel the best to be sure but there’s a reason Venus is who she is and Chiron is who he is—have faith.   The onslaught of negative media images and inadequate cultural ideas as to what makes a woman and a man worthy is exhausting to even the most confident of us.

This hits harder for some, but we all have our doubts to work on.  Use this energy, people, to make a change, no matter how minute, toward a stronger core of armour-propre.

on the brink—september 8th—the harvest supermoon

This month’s Full Moon is occurring along the Virgo/Pisces axis.  It is the third and final SuperMoon of 2014.  Native American’s call the Full Moon closest to the Fall Equinox, the Harvest Moon.  And the stars point to it being nothing short of a catharsis.

On Monday, September 8th the Virgo Sun will move into opposition with the Moon at 15° Pisces.  But not before Luna forms a Yod with Capricorn Pluto Rx  and Leo Jupiter.  And shortly after, the Full Moon dynamic will bring the healing powers of Chiron and the genius of Uranus into the fray.

To be quite honest, this is one of my personal favorite axes.  Not to mention with it being ‘super,’ there is so much potential written all over this event.  I am excited!

The Harvest Super Moon is gearing up to be an opportunity to utilize good ol’fashioned ingenuous humor to release long held emotional injuries.

Here’s the breakdown:

The Sun has been in Virgo for about 2 weeks.  We are well initiated in the Maiden’s modus operandi—hard work, details, critiquing the varnish off the walls—I kid.  During the New Moon in Virgo, we were asked to get real.  Now we get the opportunity to round out Virgo practicality with Piscean transcendence.  We are harvesting what we have sown.

Oppositions, especially of the Full Moon variety are a bridge between two polar archetypes.  This month we are given the chance to find balance among mutable energy—an Earth Sun and Water Moon, where the ocean meets the shore.  Where your toes are wet but your feet are still on the ground, just skirting the edge of the fluid depths. The Virgo/Pisces axis marks the ending and beginning of a journey. We are being asked to adapt and mutate if need be—to get our shit together in the physical plane (Virgo) as well as the spiritual plane (Pisces).

We are on the brink . . .

august 29th—great day to have a beer

This Friday, August 29th, our Virgo Sun will oppose Pisces Neptune.

Neptune will be in Pisces, the sign he rules, until 2025.

Long time.

So, for the next decade, once a year, the Planet of Illusion will be opposing the Solar Maiden Queen sometime late August through late September.

What does it mean when planets oppose each other along the Virgo/Pisces axis?

Well, it’s all detailed minutia vs. ethereal dreams.

Order vs. chaos.  Service vs. devotion.

Nitty gritty dirt on your hands vs. head lost in the clouds.

All the planning that has been swirling around, all the cleaning you have been in the middle of, all those details that need to be figured out and set into motion . . .

All the nervous Mercurial energy that has been pumped into life the last couple days . . .

Well . . .

After a hard week working that Virgo practical magic, give yourself permission to take a break.

Just a short little break.

Give the God of the Sea his due.

Go get a buddy and get yourselves a beer.

(And if you don’t partake, get yourself to a movie—Neptune rules those, too)
